Gold

Why is gold considered a hedge against inflation?

Gold is considered an inflation hedge because it preserves its value over the long term and can even rise in value during periods of high inflation. Unlike unbacked paper currencies, it cannot be multiplied at will: since US President Nixon abolished the gold standard on 15 August 1971, the dollar and the euro have been unbacked.
